The Word: 

I love the texture of old books. *really* old ones are super awesome… especially from 400 years ago or more. They still hold together, and stand the passage of time. Fantastic. One of my favorite old books I’ve ever encountered belonged to my piano teacher, who was from England. It was a “Book of English Peerage” from around 1680, if remember correctly. It was beautifully bound, but the best part was the updated notes that the owner had written in pen in the margins. This earl got married to the this duchess on page 150, this duke later went insane after his wife died and so forth. It was in that clear, strong spencerian hand… just a magical piece of history. Very cool.
