The Hookah: Hookahs were everywhere in Egypt and Jordan. At first, I thought they were in the shops just for tourists. But then I began to see people using them all the time. For those who don’t know, the hookah, or water pipe, purifies whatever you are smoking above water, in the same way people used to treat/store gasses for medicinal purposes. It’s still an odd sight, but one we grew quickly accustomed to.
